November 8, 2016 We were on the news cause who else would the Thai news station want to interview than the only white people seen for forever haha. Taught english. Then got to bear my testimony afterwards. That was a fun time. Oh boy. I found an Area book at the church that was ancient. Had hundreds of former investigators records in our area from about a decade ago. So I swooped that and we've been calling numbers in it. Many numbers are out of service, but many of the records have really cool stories. We have even set up a few lessons and meetings with people. One lady we called was like 'The Golden Investigator.' And the missionaries back then said she was going to be Thailand's best Relief Society president. But then before she was baptized she had to move to England all of a sudden for several years. They left a note on the record saying YOU HAve to contact her when she is back. Boy oh boy. So many stories similar like that but I think we were meant to find this area book of people who had a chance to receive the gospel and just need that second chance many years later. So that's a big project we are working on.
In English I committed everyone in the class to listen to 1 hour of Coldplay or Imagine Dragons and then they had to watch 1 movie in English before next week's class. On the way home I talked Elder Weaver through some girl problems he was having and yeah I didn't feel like I had said much but after he was like "wow, that is exactly what I needed to hear...etc" and he has felt pretty good since and yeah I love talking people through stuff that is all haha.
"Heavenly Father is so good to me." Probably the most written line in my journal. He really is. He is so good to all of us. Count your blessings. Pray to recognize more. They are always there. Like, yeah. He's awesome. Anytime you are going through hard times, create a schedule. It can be hourly, daily, or whatever. But every certain amount of time, give yourself 5 minutes to sit down and write everything you are grateful for. It will change your day and eventually change your life and your outlook on EVERYTHING. Love.
Next day we had to do another sketchy excorcism, buuuuut it was postponed to this coming week cause she is gone. Haha. That is all I will say about that. Buddhism is way weird haha. But the sisters have been doing awesome and said my dedicatory prayer was of God and that was good to hear haha.
Elder Weaver and I learned some tribal languages. Languages that have less than 400 speakers. Thailand mission is the best let me tell ya. The mission culture combined with the amazing Ancient Land of Thailand is just too perfect. I love it.
Friday I went on a switch off with Elder King who is another greenie. It was way fun. Really got to use my Thai to my limits and boy oh boy didn't realize how fast it was coming for me. Two different people I talked to asked how many YEArs I have been in Thailand and wouldn't believe me when I said one month. Many other Elders and members everywhere think I've been here for atleast 6 months to a year. All I can really say is that The Gift of Tongues is real and Heavenly Father sure wants me to learn Thai fast haha.
Elder King and I had a way good day. I talked to a taxi driver for like a half hour straight and got to know him real well. Invited him to church and english haha. Contacting has become a lot more fun and easy.
We had the 50th Anniversiary of the Church of Jesus Christ in Thailand. It was way awesome. So many missionaries from year's past and people from all over the country came. And it was perfect timing for my language to spike cause I had a good time talking to people there.
Elder Weaver made a goal for me to begin dreaming in Thai before our 2nd transfer ends. 2nd transfer starts in 3 days. I like that goal haha. Got to see some people I met when I was in the Conference Choir and a dad of one of my friends. Also one of my High School Choir teacher's best friends. It was sooooo fun talking to them for a while. Met my MTC companion's dad and he is a way cool guy.
Then yesterday we had church, talked about the Gathering of Israel. Later that night was a fireside for the rest of the 50 year thing. The very first Thai member, Thai missionary, Thailand missionaries, and other way cool people gave talks. And the best thing ever was translating what they were saying for another greenie I was sitting by haha. It was a way cool meeting. Elder Stephenson of the Quorum is now in Thailand and we might get to see him soon.
Oh yeah last thing:
Tonight is Loi Krathong. Think of the lantern thing you see on the movie Tangled. Times it by a million. And that is what happens today every year in Thailand. I don't know if it was started here or in China but it has been going on for thousands of years. So way stoked for that as well. Way stoked for that.
A couple nights ago we found out the old lady died. We are kinda sad but also happy her suffering is done and she can now go see her Father. (I call her "old lady" cause her name is both in Thai and is really long). Her funeral is today so that's what we will be doing. Thailand funerals are supposedly really cool and are at the temples so I'm excited to go support her in that.
Wish I had more studies to share, but mostly just doing a lot of mix of language and personal study. My Thai scriptures are looking real nice lately haha.
